If you are a photographer or designer, finding the right tool for your projects can be like sifting for a needle in a haystack. Gone are the days when Adobe ruled the roost with its software applications. Nowadays you have web based apps, mobile apps, and desktop apps available at your disposal. Typically, iPhoto is the go-to application for creating slideshows. As great as iPhoto is, it lacks some of the more advanced features of other tools. Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro are a little too much for creating slideshows with pizazz.

What can I say about this application? It’s awesome and I’ve enjoyed using it even more than iMovie or iPhoto. I also think it has an edge over Vuvox which I’m quite fond of. There are enough advanced features to satisfy video editors but easy enough for anyone to create a simple slide show.
Let’s take a look at some of what Fotomagico has to offer.
Fotomagico allows you to easily access your libraries on an easy-to-access window. I can access my photos from iPhoto and Adobe Lightroom.
It’s easy to add audio markers to properly sync photos/videos with a song. Video editors will enjoy having this feature.
This is one of the features that graphic designers and video editors will enjoy. Just like Photoshop, you can layer elements on top of one another and create photo composites. For example, you can create a separate image in Photoshop with a transparent background and import it into your slide show and layer this image on top of the photo to create a 3D type of effect, or try creative titling. (See demo).
Combine Video and Stills
This is a great feature for wedding photographers who might want to show behind- the- scenes footage along with a featured photo.
Great for presentations, Fotomagico offers a teleprompter feature and a remote app on iPhone to allow you to present your work with ease and professionalism.
Fotomagico allows you to export easily to popular platforms such as You Tube, Apple TV and your mobile devices such as your iPhone and iPad.
Professional and Amateur Photographers and enthusiasts.
- Lots of features
- Timeline and Audio Sync
- In panel editing. In Vuvox, you can crop and remove backgrounds from your images while you are compositing images. I would like this feature for future releases.
- I couldn’t find transitions available except for the top menu. I would like to see easy-to-access transitions icons on the panel just above the storyboard.
- More sharing options to include Social Networks: Facebook, Vimeo, Tumblr, etc.
Beginner-Intermediate. Some people may have difficulty with this program.
